Test Opentype locl feature
The unmarked sets are localized as english (meta content-language in the page header), the localized sets are marked with “lang” attribute.
The effects that shall be shown are:
- Catalan: periodcentered is replaced by an alternate glyph (periodcentered.CAT) with raised dot and negative sidebearings
- Serbian (+ Makedonian): alternate glyphs with traditional serbian lettershapes
- German:
- uppercase umlaut letters replaced by variants with the dieresis inside the glyph body so there’s no need for increased leading;
- f is replaced by f.DEU which is not included in ligature lookups which, according to traditional german typographic rules should not occur (f+consonant different from f or l, triple ligatures except for ffi)
- Turkish (+ Azerbaijani and Crimean Tatar): i is substituted by i.TRK which isn’t included in ligature lookups (to avoid confusion with ı) and which follows separate rules for case and smcp.
- English: as of March 27th 2013, Chromium does enable locl but the active one is unvariably the system’s locale. To visualize this, the italic test font contains an english locl that replaces T+h/t+h by Þ/þ
